Product Information

Why does it take so long for my product to ship?  All of our statues are hand-made in the USA at our third generation factory, not overseas at some huge facility .   Each statue is touched by many hands during the production process and many steps are necessary to provide you a Sylvia Shaw Judson replica that is as close as possible to her originals. These many steps include:  making sure that all components are of the highest quality when they come out of the molds;  professionally applying the hand-finished color, paying special attention to areas that need extra highlighting in order to enhance the sculpture’s features; and carefully packing the statues in a way that prevents it from moving during shipment and arrive safely to your home.  We thank you for your patience while we create a product especially for you that is of its highest quality,  one that reflects the beauty of Sylvia Shaw Judson’s creativity, and one that upholds the integrity of her original works of art!

What materials are used to produce the statues? Our statues are cast from a durable, weather-resistant mix of fiberglass, marble dust, and resin. The fiberglass provides strength and durability, the marble dust helps keep the finish from peeling off, and the resin provides a filler and bonding component.

Where are the statues made? All statues are proudly made in the USA. Many hands go into making the highest quality and detailed reproductions possible. All finishes may vary slightly due to their hand-painted application.

How are the statues packaged? Our merchandise is packed by experienced packers, using above standard methods and materials. Our foam injection system prevents your statue from moving during shipment and arrive safely to your home.

Are the statues fine for outside? Yes. But in climates that are extremely cold for extended weeks and/or months, we recommend that you bring the statue inside, just to be safe.

What are the care instructions? Actually, there really isn’t much that you need to do as far as caring for your statues. If it gets dirty from the elements, clean it with a soft cloth and mid detergent. Keep away from garden pesticides and chlorinated pools. The pesticides and chlorine could cause the finish to peel over a period of time.

Which Bird Girl statue is best for outside? The only available size of Bird Girl statue that isn’t recommended for outside is the 24” one (the one without the base). A squirrel or pet could easily knock it over and damage the arms or neck. If you do decide to put the 24” version outside, we recommend that you put it in a very safe spot or affix it to a base using concrete or epoxy.

Are all of the statues in The Sylvia Shaw Judson Collection exactly like the originals? Yes, but most of the reproductions are a different size from the original. We offer reproductions of Mrs. Judson’s statues only if an original is available to use for making the molds. By using the most advanced scanning technology available, we are able to reproduce her statues exactly as they were originally sculpted. The estate of Mrs. Judson, who owns all of the copyrights for her entire work, selects and approves which statues are added to the collection.

How do I place an order? Ordering any of our Sylvia Shaw Judson Collection statues is easy and secure. When you see a statue that you’d like to order, click on the “Buy” button to place the item in your cart. You can continue shopping and add additional statues to your order. When you’re finished, simply click the “Checkout” button and follow the instructions from there.

When will my credit card be charged? Once you place your order, our system will verify that funds are available on your credit card and we will process the appropriate amount.

Is the Potina site secure and safe? Yes! We keep the information you send with us safe in a few ways. When you make a purchase, your credit card information is encrypted and processed under the compliance of the latest PCI standards and in adherence with applicable laws. Purchases made via PayPal are encrypted and secured via their site policies. You may also notice the green “https://” in your address bar. That represents the bank-level encryption security protecting you even when you’re just browsing our site.

How will I know if my order has been received? You will receive an email immediately when your purchase has been completed. We like to keep you up to date throughout the order process, so you’ll receive update emails as your order is shipped.

Do I pay sales tax? Any orders whose final destination is North Carolina will be charged sales tax of 6.75% of the total order amount. If you do not live in North Carolina, sales tax will not be added to your order.

Shipping Information

How many days from the date that the order is placed does it take for my statue to arrive? The normal ship time for all statues is 2-3 weeks. All of our statues are hand-made in the USA at our third generation factory, not overseas at some huge facility. What are your shipping costs? All orders within the Continental US ship FREE.

Do you ship to Hawaii, Alaska, Guam, the Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico?  Yes, we can ship to all of those locations.  Unfortunately, we can’t ship to them and offer free shipping.   If you live in one of these locations and would like to place an order and have it shipped to you, please call us toll free at 800-222-2095 or  send us a messagegive us your mailing address,  and we’ll be happy to reply with a shipping quote .

Do you ship to Canada or anywhere outside the USA? Yes, we can ship to Canada, but unfortunately it’s not free shipping. Once you make your statue selection on our website, the shipping costs that are associated with that statue will automatically be added on the checkout page. You will then have the option to go ahead and place the order or to cancel it. The only country that we ship outside of the USA is Canada.

Do you ship to PO Boxes? No. You must supply us with a physical address.

What happens if my statue arrives damaged? We ask that you inspect your statue immediately upon receiving. If there is any damage, please email a digital photograph to contact@potina.com and make sure to include your full name and address, the best phone number where you can be reached during business hours, item number of statue, and your order number. Someone from our customer service department will get back with you as soon as possible to arrange for a replacement to be sent to you. After inspecting the damage shown on your digital photography, we will determine if we’d like for you to pack the statue back in the box for returning to our factory. If this is the case, there will be no charge to you, of course. In some cases, we may simply ask that you dispose of the statue. Any damage claims beyond 3 business days of delivery cannot be honored.

If I’m not pleased with my purchase, may I return it? Yes. Statues may be returned for any reason within 5 business days upon delivery, however, product must be in its original packing. A RMA# (Return to Manufacturer Authorization) must be issued by Potina and clearly marked on the return label. A 10% restocking fee will apply. You will be responsible for return shipping costs. Once the product has been received at our factory in good condition, a refund will be issued in 3-5 business days in the amount of your purchase, less our initial actual shipping cost. Unauthorized returns may be subject to a 25% restocking charge and actual freight charges as applicable.
