Bird Girl was sculpted by Sylvia Shaw Judson in 1936 and made famous by the best selling non-fiction novel and movie, Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil by John Berendt.
After the release of the book, the original statue was removed from the Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, GA and currently resides in a museum in downtown Savannah. Bird Girl has become one of the most recognized sculptures in America.

After decades dreaming of a trip to Savannah, I finally visited with my family this summer. I knew I wanted a Bird Girl statue for our garden, so I was excited to find them in a gift store on River Street. The problem was that they couldn’t ship to Canada, so we juggled different options on how to get her home – ship with UPS, bring her home in an additional suitcase, etc. Then I went on the Potina website and the process became infinitely simpler! It arrived quickly and was packed way better than we could have managed on our own with a kind of expanding foam that made her extra secure. I purchased the 28″ Bird Girl statue for my wife for Christmas. Brian went out of his way to make sure it arrived in time. The statue was packed very well and arrived safely. It is identical to the original just smaller. My only regret was that maybe I should have gotten the larger one.

We are delighted with our Bird Girl. We visited Savannah 20 years ago and purchased a statue of the Bird Girl (not a Potina). Sadly, one arm broke off and then the other. We were so sad. We recently redid our backyard and my husband purchased the new Bird Girl for me. Her pedestal makes it so secure, we’re not worried about toppling and broken arms. The packaging was top notch.
